The reconstruction of a synagogue is probably from the late fourth century CE. The ornate stone work includes a supposed image of the Ark of the Covenant. Other important symbols, like the menorah (lampstand) adorning this Corinthian style capitol show that the building was clearly a synagogue. This building may be above the ancient synagogue of Jesus' day (Mk. 1:21ff)
