The Hill of Calvary or Golgotha, is shown here in its original state. It was located in a quarry outside the Second Wall, which was the city wall at the time of Jesus. Tomps were not allowed within the city walls. Today this is the site of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. There is still a controversy as to whether this is the authentic place of Jesus' crucifixion and burial.
