Greek Orthodox Church of St. Gabriel - completed in the middle of the eighteenth century. Next to the church is Mary's Well. According to the version to be found in the apocryphal gospels, this well is the true place of the Annunciation; the Archangel Gabriel is said to have announced to Mary that she was to become a mother while she was going to the well to fetch water. The main springof the well, whichfor twenty centuries has supplied Nazareth, is right under the Crypt of the St. Gabriel. Inside the church a very fine Iconostasis, adorned with splendid icons, is preserved. Going through the Crypt, which is enriched with polychrome marble and refined ornaments based on geometrical motifs, it is possible to admire the main spring of Mary's Well, against the background of a construction of large stone blocks.
