The Church of St. Catherine - dedicated to the martyr St. Catherine, the wheel like lamps recall her death. Beneath the main sanctura are three caves, two of them house the "Chapel of St. Jerome", who lived in these caves when he translated the Old and New Testaments into Latin (The Vulgate). The adjacent "Chapel of the Innocents" recalls the terror of Herod the Great, who ordered all male children of Bethlehem to be slaughtered. (Mt. 2:13-18)
